State Work Study High Demand Employer Program
The SWS HED program is designed to fill positions in high demand sectors of Washington State with Evergreen student employees who are interested in gaining experience in specific fields. Students use their skills sets to benefit local employers while learning about the career fields they are serving in.
High demand sectors served include: Office Administration, Social Services, Sustainable Building, Human Resources, Library and Archives Assistants, Teaching, and more. HED employers are off campus for-profit, non-profit and state entities. Students search and interview for positions and are hired by individual organizations, giving them an opportunity to practice the interview process and gain familiarity with representing themselves professionally to the public.
CCBLA hosts several trainings for HED students throughout the academic year that are geared towards teaching new skills to take back to their workplace and to use in future careers. HED employers actively participate and assist in facilitating interactive trainings that showcase their organizations while teaching students beneficial skills such as basic filming and editing for use at their HED work sites to create public service announcements and other projects.

HECB CSP: Evergreen Student Community Action Coordinators Project
Community Action Coordinators Project provides a strong campus-to-community partnership, with the Center for Community Based Learning and Action (CCBLA), the college's offices of Student Employment and Financial Aid offices, and local organizations . The project places 8 to10 Community Service State Work Study (SWS-CSP) students as Community Action Coordinators (CACs) in grassroots, non-profit organizations . Community organization staff members jointly interview work study candidates. These placements expand student learning and participation in local social justice organization and developed the capacities of those organizations to support students . The CACs also mobilized additional students and campus support for organizations . Trainings this year included outreach strategies to give CACs tools to recruit campus volunteers and serve as campus liaisons with participating organizations .
