Students in Service Tuition Awards

What is Students in Service?

Students in Service is a part-time Americorps program for students. SIS engages higher education students in community service.

By signing up and doing volunteer work, a work-study job, or Teacher Practicum Hours students receive an education award that covers past, present, or future school related expenses.

Students choose from one of three terms of service - and when they complete their term of service, they are eligible for an Education Award (scholarship), which can be applied towards outstanding student loans or the cost of attendance at most colleges or universities.

  • 300 Hour Term of Service within one year = $1,000.00 Education Award
  • 450 Hour Term of Service within one year = $1,250.00 Education Award
  • 900 Hour Term of Service within two years = $2,362.50 Education Award

  • Campus based volunteer programs and general community service in any of the focus areas
