This course will introduce students to photographic practice through digital means. Building from student's existing photographic skills and vocabulary, this course will focus on image creation, editing and manipulation using Adobe Bridge, Lightroom, and Photoshop. Through a series of projects, students will work towards developing a portfolio of digitally created artwork. Students will edit and manipulate their own existing photographs, found images, and/or scanned materials.

This is a software intensive course that will focus primarily on Adobe Photoshop. Students will gain familiarity with the program and the tools that it offers to facilitate the creation of digital artwork. Upon completion of this course, students will gain skills in image editing, photomontage, design and composition, and aligning images with conceptual goals. 

While this course will not include instruction on camera skills, DSLR cameras and related equipment (tripods, lenses, etc.) will be available to rent via Media Loan.

Registration

Students should have a working knowledge of basic camera operation, with an understanding of ISO, aperture, shutter speed and metering. Additional support will be provided as necessary to assure your basic understanding of these fundamentals.
