Animal nutrition is an essential component of animal health in managed populations and aquaculture. The biochemistry and natural history of animal diets contributes to optimal developmental success, animal survival and the nutritive value of these species. This core certificate 4-credit offering is focused on the fundamentals of finfish and shellfish nutritional requirements for both wild population and husbandry management. The principles of basic nutritional biochemistry and marine animal digestive physiology will be covered as well as examining the science of feed technology as it is a crucial consideration for the longer term sustainability of aquaculture. This is one of four core courses that can be taken in any order which comprise the Marine Bioresources Certificate.
