Second Year Japanese II is part of a yearlong sequence and covers the second part of the second year-level Japanese language studies. Students must be familiar with basic verb forms and elementary kanji letters.  Students will build on previous skills and learn new grammar and vocabulary so they can function in a variety of situations. In addition to studying the textbook, students will choose from among kanji studies, story reading and speaking practice as a focus. Class activities will include presentations and discussion on Japanese culture and life. This is a good preparatory course for students interested in participating in Evergreen's exchange program with Miyazaki University or University of Hyogo in Japan.

To successfully participate in this course students need to have a computer with a camera, internet access, and the required textbook/workbook. Students will spend two hours each on Tuesday and Thursday in synchronous meetings using Zoom and approximately two additional hours of asynchronous learning for preparation and review.

Students who have already completed two years of Japanese may join this class and study at the third year level.
