- Description
-
If it weren't for extinction we wouldn't be here—speciation and extinction frame the history of life. We will take extinction as our topic and study it in the context of the history of animals with backbones, aiming to learn its causes. We will then examine the ongoing accelerated loss of biodiversity, looking to tease out which of the factors causing it are of human origin.
