Penalty Kick Sinks ESC in Conference Loss to Warner Pac
October 2, 2009
OLYMPIA, Wash. - Despite dominating Warner Pacific College in their shooting game, Evergreen could never find the net and succumbed to a well aimed penalty kick in the 85th minute. The loss is the third straight conference defeat, bringing the Geoducks record to 1-4-4 overall.
The Knights keeper, Lacey Golden, kept the team in the game with eleven saves in the match as ESC put offensive pressure on the visiting team. Geoduck freshman Emma Loftis had four shots alone that were on target.
Elissa Coutin took the free kick following an Evergreen foul and punched the ball passed keeper Sonya Daisley-Harrison for the game winning goal.
Saturday Evergreen faces the top 10 NAIA ranked Concordia University (10-1-0) of Portland, OR at 3:30 PM at the Evergreen Soccer Fields.
