Geoducks End Three Game Loss Streak Over Conference #3 Corban College
October 17, 2008
Olympia, WA - After an hour of play with no score, ESC's Kate Green hit a long shot into Corban's net to score the game winning goal in today's 1-0 conference win.
Evergreen improves their record to 2-6 in the CCC and 3-10-1 overall. The Warriors fall to 4-2-1 in the CCC and 7-7-1 overall but remain among the top four teams in the conference.
The two teams played evenly matched soccer for the game, with Corban taking 14 shots and 5 shots on goal to Evergreen's 15 & 7.
Geoduck Brianna Speed nearly scored seven minutes in when her shot bounced off the corner of the goal to be nicely saved by Corban keeper Karyn Allen.
Kate Green's second half goal followed her own block shot outside the right corner of the goal box. Retrieving the rebound, Green patiently dribbled into an open shot to boot the long, arching shot neatly into the left side of the net out of Allen's reach.
The goal was Green's 6th goal of the season.
Evergreen plays tomorrow in Olympia when they host Warner Pacific College (1-4-1 CCC, 2-8-2). Fans, remember to wear anything pink as the Geoducks acknowledge National Breast Cancer Month at the 2 PM game.
