Geoducks Begin Weekend Play With 2-1 Loss to The Yotes
September 26, 2008
Olympia, WA - The Yotes of The College of Idaho (1-0 CCC, 5-3) sealed the win over Evergreen (0-2 CCC, 1-6-1) in the final ten minutes in today's conference match.
Tied with less than 9 minutes remaining, CI's Kelly Ullman found net following Jessica Patton's pass outside the right corner of the goal box for the winning point.
Evergreen's only goal game after an error by CI's defense. Emily Anderson, ESC's offensive player who was in contact with the ball before the goal was credited with the goal.
Evergreen was on the scoreboard first with the charity goal, but CI answered with 7 minutes remaining in the first half when Ashley Page dribbled her way past Geoduck defenders for a solo score from the right side of the penalty box.
The Yotes outshot ESC 23 to 12, with 10 shots on goal to Evergreen's 6.
Geoduck defenders did a good job repelling many serious attacks by their opponents, including 8 saves by Evergreen keeper Sonya Daisley-Harrison.
Brianna Speed had the most on target shots for the Geoducks, but just one had enough power behind it to threaten CI's keepers with a goal.
Today's game was ESC's second conference game of the season. They will look for their first conference win when they play Eastern Oregon University tomorrow at 2 PM.
