OLYMPIA, Wash. - With high school state championship experience to her resume, Madeliza Gibbs will join the 2008 Geoducks soccer team as a talented freshman player.

Coach John Purtteman announced the signing of Gibbs this week.

"Eliza is a very strong and fast player who will keep defenders on the back foot".

Gibbs will graduate from Highland High School in Salt Lake City, Utah this spring. The wide-midfield player was team captain last season and helped her team to the State Championship game for the first time in the schools history. Eliza led the team in assists and was the second leading scorer.

When Gibbs plays her first season at Evergreen in the fall of 2008, look for her skill at passing the ball to the front line and as a player who is able to carry the ball to the goal herself.
