Ragan's Blasts Lift Geoducks to 2-0 Win

Springfield, OR - The women's soccer team is a step closer to the Cascade Conference playoffs after tonight's win. If the Geoducks win their home game Wednesday (4 PM) they will host the first round of the playoffs Saturday.
Tonight in Springfield, OR Evergreen State freshman Forward Monica Ragan (Boise, ID) scored twice, including her team-leading fourth game winning tally, as the Geoducks posted a 2-0 Cascade Collegiate Conference victory over the Northwest Christian College women's soccer team at Mike Kelly Field.
It was Ragan that opened the 21st minute of play, with a 12-yard strike off the pass from Kate Green on the right side of the box, as Evergreen State would take a 1-0 advantage into the intermission.
The Geoducks outshot the Beacons 11-2 in the opening half of play, and held a 20-6 advantage at the end of the game. Green again had an assist to Ragan in the 82nd minute of play, for the victory sealing point; as the Geoducks improved their record to 5-7-1 overall and 4-4-1 in conference play.
Ragan's game total points tallied has earned her eight goals for the season.
The Beacons' senior keeper Bethany McAlister, playing the the final game her career, recorded nine saves on the evening and is the program's leader is saves with 182. Jacquie Lipp and Samantha Stewart each had a shot on goal on the night, to lead the Beacon offensive efforts.
NCC ends the 2007 season with an overall record of 0-15-1 and 0-10 in conference play.
Evergreen hosts Northwest University Wednesday at 4 PM in their final regular season game.
