Women's Soccer Wins Season Opener |

Geoducks down Morningside College 2-0 August 23, 2005 OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Evergreen All-America forward Alisha White scored the first goal of the 2005 women's soccer season as the Geoducks downed visiting Morningside College of Sioux City, Iowa 2-0. White scored off a cross from defender Kaylen Kelley in the 29th minute to put Evergreen in front. Morningside responded later in the period as Marisha Lenz picked up a lose ball in the Evergreen defense and fired a high shot that Carly Stewart was forced to tip over the bar. The save was one of three Stewart had on the day as the Geoduck defense limited Morningside to five shots in the game. Evergreen converted for a second time in the game in the 84th minute as forward Alice Fox-Dietz took a Kate Green pass, beat a defender and slipped a ball past Morningside keeper Kelly Berst. Berst finished the game with nine saves on 28 Geoduck shots. White led all players with eight shots on goal while freshman midfielder Jenine Adam added seven more. Evergreen is 1-0 on the season and travels to Central Washington University August 30th to play the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. |
