TACOMA, Wash. -- Alisha White scored in the first half and Maeve Dempsey tallied her first goal of the season in the second half to carry The Evergreen State College women's soccer team over Pacific Lutheran University 2-0 today. Both goals came courtesy of forward Kate Green who now has a goal and two assists in the last two games.

White outraced a defender and Lute goalkeeper Liz Chase to a ball Green played behind the defense in the 12th minute of the game. White poked the ball between the two players and finished into an open goal.

The strike was the difference in the match until Dempsey recorded her insurance goal in the 80 th minute. Dempsey took a pass from Green and found the upper right hand side of the goal from 25 yards away.

PLU held a 16 to nine advantage in shots. But Evergreen goalkeeper Carly Stewart was only forced to make one difficult save. PLU freshman forward Christina McDuffie received a cross behind the right side of the Geoduck defense about ten yards from goal. But Stewart flew out to turn away the point blank shot and preserve the shutout.

With the win Evergreen moves to 3-0 on the year while PLU starts their season 0-1. Evergreen returns to action September 10th when conference foe Cascade College comes to Olympia for a 1:00 pm game.
