Evergreen Breaks into Region I Rankings |

Setptember 5, 2005 OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Evergreen State College women's soccer team is ranked 5th in the season opening rankings for NAIA Region I. Evergreen is undefeated in its first three games and has recorder wins over NCAA Division II Central Washington University (3-1), NCAA Division III Pacific Lutheran University (2-0) and Morningside College of Sioux City, Iowa (2-0). It is the first regional ranking for the Geoducks since 2003. Five different players have scored this season for Evergreen. Junior forward Alice Fox-Dietz and Alisha White lead the Geoduck attack with two goals each. Sophomore forward Kate Green has one goal and two assists. Senior midfielder Elizabeth Lieberknecht and sophomore midfielder Maeve Dempsey have one goal apiece. Goalkeeper Carly Stewart has conceded only one goal in three games. The junior has faced 40 shots, recorded 18 saves and has two shutouts on the year. The Geoducks open conference play this weekend at home as they host Cascade College in a 1:00 p.m. game on Saturday.
