Evergreen Shuts out Warner Pacific

Olympia, WA - Freshman defender Marissa Major scored two goals including the game-winner and conference goal-leader Alisha White added another tally to give The Evergreen State College women's soccer team its seventh win of the season.

Major converted two corner kicks while White was played behind the Knight's defense by a beautiful Alice Fox-Dietz through ball, giving Fox-Dietz her her sixth assist in eight games-also tops in the conference.

Evergreen took a 2-0 lead into the break, but the Knights battled for the entire match making for a physical second period. The teams committed 28 fouls after the intermission with each side being whistled 14 times.

The Geoducks out-shot Warner Pacific 19-8 for the game with White leading the charge on five attempts. The Geoducks also earned seven corner kicks to the Knight's one, with two of those corners resulting in goals.

Evergreen goalkeeper Carly Stewart earned the clean sheet making seven saves on the day including a couple of close-range stops early in the first half. The shutout is Stewarts fourth in eight games tying her for the conference lead.

With the win Evergreen stays undefeated with a 7-0-1 record heading into next weeks match against conference rival Concordia University who is currently rated fifth in the nation. Warner Pacific drops to 2-6 on the year.
