Concordia 4, Evergreen 0

October 17, 2001

Olympia, WA - The Geoducks played well for 85 minutes against a tough Concordia team. It was the five minute span that the Cavaliers (10-3, 7-0) scored four goals in, that hurt the Geoducks (4-9-2, 3-6-1).

The first half ended in a 0-0 tie, and Evergreen had played as well as they could have wanted against the top team in the conference. Nora Moloney (Bainbridge Island, WA/ Western Oregon U.)had an incredible first half, recording seven saves to keep the Cavaliers off the scoreboard. Most of her seven saves were athletic stops, shots that should have gone in, but Moloney reacted well and had great hands in the first half.

The second half started out much the same way, Moloney and the rest of the Geoduck defense kept Concordia from getting on the board, but the tides turned after a Geoduck mistake. Neolle Miller took an errant pass from an Evergreen defender and dribbled 20 yards, around Moloney, and scored on a short kick from the box. The Cavaliers caught the Geoducks on their heels and were on the board again before two minutes had gone by. They added two more goals in the next 3 minutes.

Evergreen played solid defense for most of the game, but could not manage to get off more than five shots in the game. The Cavaliers defense only allowed Evergreen one shot in the second half.
