Three Lady Geoducks Recognized as All-Conference Scholar Athletes

OLYMPIA, Wash. - Recently the Cascade Collegiate Conference released the names of the winter quarter student-athletes who have been honored for their academic achievements for this past quarter.  In order to receive this recognition as a CCC Scholar Athlete a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher and be at least of sophomore standing.  Amongst the names were three Geoducks:  Katie Garcin, Ali Matisons, and Angel Stewart.  The three are members of Evergreen's Women's Basketball team.

Katie Garcin is a senior from Gooding, ID.  Katie's focus while at Evergreen has been studying Pre-Physical Therapy.   Ali Matisons, from Aberdeen, WA, is also a senior.  Ali's studies at Evergreen have been in the field of Social Work.  The two recently were honored as graduating seniors from the Women's Basketball program.  Both Garcin and Matisons played their last home-game for the Geoducks on February 13, 2010, against visiting Concordia University - Portland.

Angel Stewart, a junior from Yakima, WA, is a two-time honoree, having received this same recognition last winter.  This year Angel's studies have moved into the realm of Psychology, a change from last year when she focused on Art.

The Geoduck Women recently finished off their year, playing their last game of the 2009-2010 season on February 20th at Eastern Oregon University.
