Olympia, WA- Evergreen capped off a great week of basketball with their 69-47 win over Simpson tonight. The Geoducks won their three games this week and improve their overall record to 5-0.

Simpson began the game aggressively and were first on the board, building to a 6-0 lead in the first three minutes. By the halfway mark in the period, ESC tied the game at 11-11.

Both teams shot fairly low field goal percentages, but the Geoduck's 35 attempts to Simpson's 22 was enough to secure baskets to bring them to a 10 point lead at halftime.

Evergreen continued to pull away from Simpson, eventually never dropping to below a 14 point lead in the last 5 minutes and then finishing with a 22 point victory at the buzzer.

With a 5-0 record so far, the team is learning how to be comfortable in the roll.

"The team is buying into the system," commented Head Coach Monica Heuer following the game. "They are seeing what they can do if they work together. My coaches (Mychael Heuer and Amber Evans) are doing such a great job pulling the best out of everyone".

"Some of the new players already come from winning programs, our returners are the ones that need to adjust." adds associate head coach Mychael Heuer. "We are playing well, but not our best".

Joy White, a senior guard for Evergreen, has noticed the difference in this years program.

"More than in the past, we are playing as a whole team" notes the softspoken White.

Evergreen is being noticed by the conference teams this year and some rival conference players were seen in the crowd Saturday having a look at their competition.

Conference play begins for Evergreen Friday night in Salem, Oregon when the team visits Corban College and then Concordia in Portland Saturday.
