Taking on Warner Pacific College

February 20, 2009

Olympia, WA - The Geoducks matched up with the #5 Cascade Conference Knights of Warner Pacific College (9-10 CCC, 13-15) tonight at the Greenhouse. Falling victim to their own turnovers early on in the game, ESC could not threaten as they lost 59-49.

Despite falling behind by as much as 8 points in the first six minutes of play, Evergreen (5-14 CCC, 10-16) was able to draw within four points nearing the first half.

The Knights went on a run with the help of Jacque Barton's 11 points to again build an 8 point lead at intermission.

The second half didn't get better for the Geoducks, as the team made just 10 of 33 field goal attempts while WPC shot 45%.

The Knights defense pressured players and limited ESC's shooting opportunities throughout the game.

Angel Stewart (So, Yakima, WA) played hard and pulled in 9 rebounds and added 9 points for ESC. Kristi Auckland (Sr. Everett, WA) had 8 points tonight.

For Warner, Barton added 7 more to her total for 18 game points. Marissa Towry snagged 3 steals and scored 10 points.

Evergreen hosts Cascade (4-14 CCC) tomorrow night at 5:30 as the team honors their graduating seniors at the last regular season home game.

It will be an emotional night for Cascade, the college will close its doors at the end of the school year.
