Ashland, OR - A big second half run helped the Southern Oregon women's basketball team score their sixth-straight victory, 89-76 over a tough Evergreen team tonight at McNeal Pavilion.

Evergreen stayed with SOU until the final minutes, the Geoducks playing great ball until their defense tired late in the game. A tough road schedule this week, including the overtime win last night, surely affected the energy of the team.

The Raiders are now 17-4 overall and 9-3 in Cascade Conference play. Evergreen dropped to 9-10 overall and 4-8 in conference action.

Whitney Scott led the Raiders with 21 points and seven assists. Rhiannon Dickison finished with 20 points and Jacki Speer finished with her 13th double-double of the year with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Kristin Auckland led Evergreen with 20 points, her fourth 20 point game of the season, and adding 5 rebounds. Freshman Alex Saab had a great weekend of play and totaled 14 points tonight. Point guard Joy White added 12 and contributed 6 assists.

Freshman Lindsey Scheffler gave the Raiders a boost off the bench in the first half, going for eight points in seven minutes of action as SOU jumped out to a 31-24 halftime advantage.

The Raiders shot just 27 percent from the field in the first half, but made 40 percent of their 3-pointers (including two by Schefffler) to stay in control of the game.

In the second half the Geoducks came out on fire and shot 70 percent for most of the half, taking a 63-62 lead on a White layup.

The Raiders answered back with a 7-1 run to regain control. Ashley Baker started the run with a bucket in the paint and a Dickison 3-pointer gave SOU a 67-63 lead.

Scott capped the run with a three point play and the Raiders were able to ice the game from the free throw line.

Evergreen's next two conference games are at home January 30 and 31 hosting Concordia and Corban respectively.
