December 17, 2007
Olympia, WA - Today, head coach Monica Heuer announced her signing of Keisha McDonald to The Evergreen State College Women's Basketball Team. McDonald, a 5' 6" senior at River Ridge High School, has inked her letter of intent to play basketball when she attends Evergreen at the start of the 2008-09 school year.
McDonald has been one of the more notable basketball players in the area, helping her River Ridge Hawks win the 2A State Championships last year. During that season McDonald earned First Team All-Conference honors.
Coach Heuer is thrilled to have McDonald join the team. "Keisha is strong academically and we look forward to what she will bring to Evergreen." Adding, "She is a true leader and a winner with innate, special qualities that you can't teach players".
The relationship between McDonald and Evergreen has developed over the years. McDonald is currently coached by former Evergreen assistant coach Curtis Norwood at River Ridge and during her sixth grade year she was a member of a local AAU team coached by Evergreen Associate Head Coach, Mychael Heuer. Keisha also attended basketball camps at Evergreen.
Currently McDonald has averaged seventeen points per game, six rebounds and six assists per game.
In addition to her 2007-08 honors, her sophomore year she was named Second Team All-State in the 2A division and received honorable mention for the same award her freshman year.
