Caldwell, ID - A 20-4 run over a six minute stretch early in the second half propelled The College of Idaho women's basketball team to an 82-60 victory over Evergreen State, tonight in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
After the Geoducks erased a 13-point first half deficit with a Kristi Auckland lay-up 30-seconds into the second half, the Lady Yotes (9-5, 6-1 CCC) broke the 30-30 deadlock with continued defensive pressure and outside shooting.
The C of I forced 20 second half Evergreen turnovers and connected on 7-of-10 shots from distance to pick up their fourth-straight league win. Whitney Clark tied a season-high with 27 points - becoming the sixth player to score 1,000 points in a career with a pair of free throws in the second half.
Christon Vander Esch had 16 of her 19 points in the second stanza, to go along with eight rebounds, while Whitney Owen had an outstanding all-around game - scoring 12 points, grabbing seven rebounds, recording six steals, and five assists.
The Geoducks (4-14, 3-6) got 19 points and nine rebounds from Kristi Auckland and ten points and eight rebounds from Rosalind Lee - but were playing without leading scorer Jennifer Solberg for unspecified reasons.
Evergreen remains on the road for their next game, traveling to Eugene, Oregon Friday the 18th to meet Northwest Christian College.
