Olympia, WA - Coach Monica Heuer made some changes to the team's lineup and it paid off tonight in their 74-69 conference game win over Warner Pacific College.

Evergreen ended their eight game losing streak and improves their record to 3-12.

Heuer surprised many, and maybe herself, by breaking tradition in the starting lineup. Two freshman opened play, Sydney Davis (Centralia HS) and Angela Stewart (Davis HS). "The changes worked for us" noted Heuer. "I'm very happy to get this win. The team made a great effort and the rotation of players worked in our favor."

Warner Pacific challenged the whole game, maintaining the lead most of the first half and keeping the Geoducks on the run. Evergreen went into the locker room with a 30-26 lead.

Five minutes into the first half Evergreen had a 10 point lead, but The Knights fought back with a great scoring effort by Danica Wilson. Wilson scored 21 points in the game, pulled in 9 rebounds, a block and 2 steals. With Wilson's help her team took a 9 point lead with eight minutes remaining.

Kristi Auckland (Jr. Cascade HS) hit four free throws within a minute to help Evergreen close the gap and eventually pull ahead by 11 points. Auckland totaled a season's and career high 24 points and added a block, a steal and 6 rebounds.

Also helping the team gain momentum was Joy White (Jr. Berkeley, CA) who had 14 points. White had a pair of key steals late in the game.

The Geoducks travel to Kirkland, WA Tuesday to play Northwest University in a 5:30 PM game.
