OLYMPIA , Wash. - Evergreen's Women lost to Southern Oregon University tonight at home 59-66. It had been 10 days without a game due to cancellations following power outages resulting from last weeks windstorm. Knowing they had a strong opponent on the schedule tonight, the uncertainty about being play ready worried the coaches. Still, the Geoducks came out and played hard against the strong Raider team.

SOU, who's ranking below Evergreen in the Cascade Conference does not reflect their strong team, played some tough conference teams earlier this season. They narrowly lost to NAIA #24 ranked Oregon Tech in overtime last month, a team that Evergreen takes on tomorrow night at home.

Senior Andi Peterson led the Southern Oregon women's baskteball team to their first Cascade Conference win of the season.
Peterson led the Raiders (7-5, 1-2) with 17-points.

The Geoducks played well in the start of the first half, sticking close
to the Raiders and bringing the game to a tied score twice in the first
ten minutes of play. In the tenth minute of play Kelsey Richards shot put the Raiders up 13-12 and they kept the lead the rest of the game.

Southern Oregon entered the halftime break with a 31-26 lead after being up by as much as nine with two minutes to go in the first half.

The Raiders built their lead to 19-points with nearly ten minutes left in the game. Shooting 50 percent in the second half compared to their 32 percent in the first, the Geoducks slowly put themselves back into the game. They scored 33-points in the second half, only two behind SOU's second-half total.

Jennifer Solberg led the Geoducks (2-8, 1-2) with 16-points and six rebounds while Melissa Evans had 11-points.

The Raiders shot 42-percent from the field and hit 72-percent of their
shots from the charity stripe. Evergreen State shot for 39-percent and 60-percent in free throws.

Evergreen plays at home Wednesday night at 5:30 in the Women's and Men's double-header with Oregon Tech.
