May 22, 2006
Olympia, WA - Head women's basketball coach Monica Heuer today announced the signing of Jen Solberg for the 2006-07 season. Solberg is transferring to Evergreen after sitting out last season at Minot State with a foot injury.
"We are excited to bring Jen into the program," said Heuer. "She can really shoot the ball. She has a quick release and great range."
Solberg averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game at Centralia Community College before moving on to Minot State . She was the NWAACC Western Division MVP and team MVP as a freshman shooting 41.9% from three point range and 42.4% from the field.
Solberg repeated as team MVP and NWAACC All-Star her sophomore season.
"We are really happy that Jen is ready to play ball again," said Heuer. "She will bring a lot more than shooting to the team. She is a great person and really enjoyable to be around."
Solberg is the sixth player to sign with Evergreen for the upcoming season as the Geoducks return the core of a squad that reached the post-season for the third straight season.
