Olympia, WA - The Evergreen State Women's Basketball Team announced that Sydney Davis, a senior attending Centralia High School, has signed a Letter of Intent to play on the team.
Davis, a 5'10" wing player, will be enrolled at Evergreen in the fall of 2007. In her four years at Centralia she earned honors as Most Valuable Player, Best Defensive Player and was a two year captain for her team. Former Evergreen assistant coach and head coach for the Tigers, Curtis Norwood, worked with Davis for three years and gives high praise for his former team member. "She was the catalyst for the team's success". Davis will follow in the footsteps of many teammates playing at four year colleges. " Sydney will only get better (in college)" adds Norwood .
Head coach, Monica Heuer, is enthusiastic about Davis ' decision to play ball at Evergreen. "It is a pleasure to have Sydney on the team. She has a great work ethic and attitude and that is what makes her an even better person". Coach Heuer will not overlook Davis ' talent on the court either. "We look forward to working with her and pulling it all out." Heuer adds.
Averaging 15 points and 4 rebounds per game, Davis is a versatile player who can drive to the basket and shoot from the outside as well.
Evergreen's young basketball team, which only lost one senior to graduation, will welcome the high level experience that Davis will bring to the team. At Centralia , she helped her team make it to the 2005 State Tournament and earned Second Team All-Conference honors this season in one of the most competitive conferences in the state.
