Olympia, WA - Jennifer Solberg led a group of four Evergreen State College players in double figures with 27 points as the Geoducks snapped a five-game Cascade Collegiate Conference losing streak with a 77-66 win over visiting Northwest University on Friday night.
Jenny Olson added 15 points, Molly Clark 13 and Joy White 12. Solberg and Danielle Keenan turned in monster nights on the boards with 13 apiece while White, Evergreen's stellar sophomore point guard had six assists.
The Geoducks (3-12 CCC, 5-21 overall) led 30-21 with four minutes to go in the first half, but couldn't score the rest of the period as Northwest (4-11, 9-19) rallied to tie the game before intermission.
Trailing 41-39 with 14:06 to play, Evergreen reclaimed the lead on a seven-points-in-a-minute outburst by all-time scoring leader Olson. Olson , who built her record up to 1107 career points, hit a sweeping hook and a free throw to give the Geoducks a 42-41 lead. She then hit a pull-up jumper off the fast break and tossed in a short bank shot on Evergreen's next two possessions to give the Geoducks a cushion they built on from there with a barrage of three point baskets down the stretch.
The Geoducks turned in one of their best shooting nights of the season with a 49.2 field goal percentage fueled by 7 of 14 shooting from beyond the three-point line. Sam McCracken led Northwest with 18 points and nine rebounds while Kim Sandberg added 13 points and Brittany Bowsher 12.
