Geoducks Continue Charge

January, 18 2005

Portland, OR - Picking up their fourth win in as many games, the women's basketball team dropped Cascade College 59-39 last night. Evergreen had to overcome some cold shooting to pick up the win as they went a tepid 36 percent from the field. But the Geoducks held Cascade to 30 percent shooting and forced 33 turnovers to move to 5-4 in conference play.

Kamrica Ary-Turner led the Geoducks with 12 points and Jenny Olson added ten. First year forward Danielle Keenan contribute a season-high eight points as did senior forward Leslie Jacobson.

Liz Rizza scored 12 points for the Thunderbirds but didn't get much offensive help from her teammates as no other player made it to double figures.

This win puts the Geoducks above .500 at 10-9 overall as they enter the final third of the season.

Evergreen finishes their five-game road swing this weekend as they travel to Albertson College and Eastern Oregon University. Albertson sits a half-game ahead of Evergreen at 5-3 in conference play. The 'Yotes defeated Evergreen by 15 points when they met in Olympia in December.

Meanwhile, Eastern Oregon sits in second place in conference play at 7-1. The Mountaineers escaped Olympia with a 62-57 win earlier this season.

The Geoducks will return home to play Southern Oregon and league-leading Oregon Tech on January 28th and 29th. Both games start at 5:30 pm.
