Geoducks Fight Hard at Weekend Home Games

OLYMPIA, Wash.  - Concordia University (OR) defeated Evergreen  3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-10) in tonight's home game to give the Geoducks their second loss of the weekend in conference play.

Evergreen fell to 1-14 overall and 1-6 in league action. 

With the win, CU, currently in third place in the conference standings, improved to 8-6 overall and 5-2 in CCC.

The Cavaliers hit a season-best .348 on the night while holding the Geoducks to a -0.079 attack rate.

ESC had was challenged by the fact that setter Meghan De La Rosa was unable to play. Chantal Petkus, a libero for the team, took over setting duties in the match.

Back in the line up for the Geoducks was Mickey Walsh, who sat out several games following a concusion sustained earlier in the season.

Clair Thiel and Mariana Toscano tied for the match high with seven kills each, nearly matching the 15-kill total by the entire Evergreen side. Skyler Kamaka contributed with 21 assists and Raluca Dinca added 11 digs as each player posted match highs in their respective category.

Evergreen was led by five kills from Jazzmin Garcia, 12 assists from Chantel Petkus and 10 digs by Irene Takahashi-Coker.

The Geoducks are on the road this weekend, facing powerhouse teams Eastern Oregon (4-3 CCC, 6-6) on Friday and College of Idaho (7-0 CCC, 10-1) on Saturday.
