Team Plays Tighter Match in Tonight's Loss

August 26, 2009

OLYMPIA, Wash. - The Geoducks kept the match close in the third game, tying up the game at 20-20 with Hope International before losing the match three games to zero.  Hope strongly defeated Walla Walla University last night 3-0 and while ESC lost to WWU Monday night, they played an improved game against the Fullerton, CA based Lions of Hope.

For Hope, the Seattle based Sine Schirmer had 9 kills and a block to please her big fan club in Olympia. Teammate Debbie Beliakoff also tallied the same plus a service ace.

The Lions showed that their team had the flexibility of shifting team roles in the game, switching their libero and designated setters during the match to maximize their winning strategy.

The Geoducks again had a strong offensive game from Jazzmin Garcia (Juanita HS) who scored 7 kills, 1 service ace and 2 blocks. Meghan De La Rosa (Kennewick HS) assisted on 15 points and 2 kills.

Next on the schedule for ESC is a September 1 away Conference game with Northwest University in Kirkland, WA. Game time is 7:00 PM.
