Team Wins First Shutout of the Season as Blevens Ends Career on High Note

Olympia, WA - Evergreen started off the night well, keeping the momentum of game one alive. In game one of the match the Geoducks tallied 11 points in a row on Kandice Gleaves' serves and winning the first game 25-14.

ESC recorded their first shut out match of the season and improved their record to 2-18 in the Cascade Conference as they end their season tonight.

The Thunderbirds of Cascade College end their year with a 3-17 CCC record after tonight's loss.

Gleaves (Olympia, WA) led the team with 10 kills and 5 serve aces. She was followed by Jessica Dubois (Tumwater, WA) who had 9 kills and Madeline Blevens (La Conner, WA) had 5 kills and 2 serve aces.

It was the final game as a Geoduck for Blevens, who has played four years for Evergreen and is the teams solo graduating senior. Blevens played 269 games for the Geoducks. Her four year stats include 484 kills, 55 serve aces and 46 solo blocks.

Following the game Bleven's complimented her team. "I'm excited to see where this team goes. They are so great and we overcame a lot of struggles this season". The senior, who will pursue a career in media arts, plans to continue playing volleyball and most likely we'll see her in future alumni games.

Cascade College was led in kills by Natalie Forgan with 13 and Meagan Stanley had 10.

Carla Crowder had 28 assists for Cascade and Katie Huston had 26 for Evergreen.

"This was a good win for us, I was worried before the game", noted Coach Clay Blackwood after the game. "Cascade has been on a roll lately and has beaten some good teams in the conference. To end the season on a high note and get the 3 game win tonight feels good".
