September 13, 2006

Forest Grove, OR - Evergreen lost their second match in a row as Pacific University ended their five-match losing streak. Evergreen lost in three games, 30-19, 31-29, 30-21, in volleyball action at the Pacific Athletic Center.

The two teams engaged in a close game in the opener before Dunns second kill of the match gave Pacific their first lead at 9-8. Iseke took it from there, serving six straight service winners on a pair of kills and three Geoduck attack errors to build a 15-8 lead. While Evergreen State pulled to within five at 20-15, kills by Van Domelen and Caitlin Gollehon gave Pacific the 30-21 win.

In the second game the Geoducks rebounded from a 7 point deficit to tie the game at 23-23 on a Pacific setting error. Evergreen was up by as much as two points before the Boxers forced another tie at 26-26. The score was tied three more times before Pacific prevailed 31-29.

Evergreen pulled close again in the third game following attack errors on Pacific's front line, but when Pacific's coach put his starters back in the game they were able to take control.

Freshman Kandice Gleaves led Evergreen State with 10 kills. The usual leader in kills for Evergreen, Emily Peterson, played sparingly because of illness.

Megan Van Domelen led Pacific with 13 kills and a.571 attack percentage to go along with four blocks. Melissa Dunn (So., Sonoma , CA) registered a double-double of 12 kills and 10 digs, while Anela Iseke (Jr., Hauula , Hawaii ) finished with a double-double of 39 assists and 13 digs.

Evergreen will play two games in Olympia this weekend. Friday September 15th and Saturday September 16th. Both games are at 7:00 PM and will be held at South Puget Sound Community College.
