CALDWELL, Idaho -- Freshman Kathryn Ely led a balanced Albertson College attack with 11 kills and a .625 hitting percentage, as the Coyotes opened up Cascade Conference play with a convincing 30-16, 30-11, 30-24 victory over Evergreen State at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.

The victory for the Lady 'Yotes extended a home-court win streak to 16-matches, dating back to the 2003 season.

Emily Peterson led Evergreen with ten kills, but the junior's effort was not enough as Albertson used an 8-1 push in Game 1 to open up a 12-10 lead and get the win. Ely had five kills for Albertson in five swings in the game, while Katie Hogue had four kills and four blocks.

Game 2 was all Coyotes, as Albertson jumped out to a 28-9 lead.

The Geoducks (0-1, 0-1) took a short-lived 6-2 lead in Game 3, but could not sustain the rally, as the visitors had five more hitting errors than kills on the night. Sophomore setter Chelsea Jacobson served up 21 assists on the night, and senior hitter Kaylene Black recorder seven more kills for Evergreen.

The Geoducks return to action on the road tomorrow night at Eastern Oregon.
