Ashland, Ore. -- The 11th-ranked Southern Oregon University volleyball team used a mix-and-match lineup and overcame Game 3 sluggishness to earn its 12th consecutive victory at McNeal Pavilion tonight.

After comfortable outcomes in Games 1 and 2, the Geoducks (5-13, 2-11) erased a 9-6 deficit, galloped to a 25-21 advantage and survived a 4-0 Raider run when Claflin served game point into the right antenna. SOU committed nine attack miscues and missed four serves in the nightmarish frame, and the Greener momentum lasted seven points into Game 4 - a 4-3 lead - when the Raiders unleashed a withering 20-4 run to erase the Geoduck's upset hopes.

"Evergreen played hard all night, and they caused problems for us," Raider coach Paul Elliott said. "We were struggling with consistency and mental focus in Game 3, and that led to way too many unforced errors."

Evergreen received solid efforts from sophomore middle Mattie Blevens (13 kills, four blocks), junior hitter Emily Peterson (nine kills, 10 digs) and sophomore setter Chelsea Jacobson (36 assists, three blocks), but the Geoducks fell to 0-9 all-time in Ashland.
