Raiders Sweep Evergreen in Women's Volleyball

Olympia, WA - A handful of sparkling performances by Southern Oregon University players combined with a rash of errors by The Evergreen State College to propel the 10th ranked Raiders to a decisive 30-13, 30-17, 30-22 win over the Geoducks on Friday night.

Junior Nicholette LeBel was the big hitter for Southern, pounding down seven kills and recording several big blocks. Kristen Ferris and Richelle Millsap had six kills each for the Raiders while Melissa Beard served up 27 assists and had seven digs on defense. Ferris also shone on defense with 12 digs

Kristen Lilley, whose seven point serving run in the first game broke open the match, had a game-high 19 digs and three service aces

Evergreen, which totaled 37 errors of various kinds, was led by sophomore Emily Peterson, who tallied six kills and five digs. Freshman Maddie Blevins also had six kills while Hanna Plunk and Elyse Johnston each had 10 digs.

Evergreen plays at home again tomorrow night against Oregon Tech at 7:00 p.m. whole Southern Oregon moves north to take on Northwest University in Kirkland.
