Southern Oregon 3, Evergreen 0

September 28, 2001

Olympia, WA - Evergreen (3-7, 1-6) gave Southern Oregon (9-4, 4-3) the best they could, but the Raiders were just too powerful. The Geoducks played a good game but they just couldn't match up with the Raiders. Southern Oregon won the match 3-0.

For the most part, Evergreen battled tough all night, they hit the ball well but just couldn't find an open spot on the floor for it to fall. That in turn gave Southern Oregon the opportunity to set up their power hitter, Kristina Matchett. Matchett had 23 kills in the game and .538 attacking percentage.

Evergreen was led by Courtney Brandon (Pomeroy, WA / Walla Walla CC) who had eight kills and 5 blocks in the game. Karina Philliber (Graham, WA / Bethel HS) had six kills and three service aces.

Southern Oregon was able to dig almost half of the Geoduck attacks. Evergreen did limit their attacking errors in the game, but struggled at times to get the ball into play, six service errors did not help the Geoducks. Evergreen had their opportunities to get a victory, but could not get momentum to build off of.

Evergreen will return to action on Friday, September 28th as they host Cascade Conference foe Western Baptist College at 7:00 p.m.
