She currently holds school records in three distance events, including the 5000 meters in which she broke her own previous record last week in Bellingham. Casillas heads into next weekends conference championships and will compete in the 5000 meters, an event she ranks 9th in the conference in. Casillas has focused on environmental sciences and plans to pursue a career in the field of botany.

Senior Eric Jones has earned this honor three previous times during cross country and track and field seasons. Hailing from Vancouver, Wash, Jones will compete in this years NAIA National Track and Field Championships in the marathon and will race the 5000 meters at the conference championships. He prepared for his nationals qualifying run in early April while in the high altitude deserts of Peru during the winter quarter during his study abroad. Jones plans to further his education to obtain a Masters degree after graduation this spring and plans to teach eventually.

Another outstanding senior, Diann Leo (San Francisco, Calif.), will be finishing her education at Evergreen this June where she studied theater and literature while participating in cross country and track and field. Leo will run the 10,000 meters at the conference meet and has been a varsity member of the cross country and track and field teams the past three years.
