February 15, 2009
SEATTLE, Wash. - While much of the team stayed home to work the Geoduck Gallop, a few tracksters went to Dempsey Arena at the UW campus to test their speed and winter fitness.
Senior Lindsey Farah finished 8th of 17 competitors and 2nd in her heat in the 600 meters. She ran her second best time posting 1:42.40 as she ran from the front until being passed before the tape.
Jason Shoemaker ran 7.78 in the 60 meters and 25.23 in the 200. Ryan Lara scored a season's best in the 200 meters with a 23.98. Just a few clicks off his personal best, placing 40th of 84 competitors.
In the 400 Lara ran 53.18.
Brian Rakestraw, ESC's distance standout, ran a personal best in the 3000 meters (9:04.71), indoor and outdoor, placing 5th in his heat. His time breaks the former indoor school record set a year ago on the same track by teammate Eric Jones.
Farah will attempt to qualify for the NAIA Indoor Nationals in Portland February 20th.
