Team Members Shake Out the Rust at UW Indoor
Ryan Lara opens season at UW Indoor Preview
January 17, 2009
SEATTLE, Wash. - A small contingent of Geoducks competed at the UW Indoor meet today at Dempsey arena, coming back with a couple school records and some marks to improve on during the season.
It's a good time of the year to shake the rust off after athletes break into action after a long winters vacation.
Jason Shoemaker did just that as he opened up in the shortest event of the meet, the 60 meter dash. Shoemakers start was not his characteristic explosion out of the blocks and with a short distance to recover from that he didn't hit his hoped for time. Still, his time of 7.98 is his second best performance. In his longer race of the day, J-Shoe had strong 300 meter race to set the new standard for the distance with a time of 41.01 to place 3rd.
Lindsey Farah set the new 800 meter indoor record with a 2:30.08 and came back with a really strong effort in 600 meters setting a personal best and school record by 10 seconds in 1:41.84, just shy of the NAIA standard.
In the 400 meters, Ryan Lara pace a 52.98 effort to place 17th out of 40 competitors. Liam Rockwell opened with an indoor best of 2:07.67 in the 800 meters.
