Pineda's 800 Win and School Record Leads Geoduck's PLU Performances

PARKLAND, Wash. - Miguel Pineda moved to the lead into the bell lap in the men's 800 meters to score a close victory over Central Washington's Corey Cronkhite. Pineda's time of 1:56.43 was a personal best and school record.
The Pacific Lutheran University Invitational featured six college teams representing NAIA and NCAA Div. I, II & III schools. While the meet was not scored, Evergreen had one of their stronger meet performances of the season.
In the women's 10,000 meters, Emily Uhlig led in the early stages but eventually succumbed to her fast pace in the warm conditions. A rookie in the event, she finished third in a time of 41:13.1.
Lindsey Farah continues to improve in the sprints, lowering two of her own school records today. In the 800 meters, Farah placed 2nd in 2:22.44. Her 200 meter time was lowered to 27.47 placing 5th.
Freshman standout Ryan Lara finished 4th in the 400 meters (51.01) and 5th in the 200 meters (23.51). Jason Shoemaker had a personal best in the 200 meters with a 24.31 effort.
In the metric mile, Eric Jones finished second, covering the 1500 meters in 4:19.28 Liam Rockwell was a close 4th in 4:22.23.
Ana Casillas and Diann Leo braved the late afternoon sunshine and placed 5th and 6th respectively in the 5000 meters.
For the final event of the day, the men's 4 x 400 meter relay (Brian Rakestraw, Ryan Lara, Rockwell & Pineda), Evergreen finished 2nd to PLU. Pineda anchored the team as they went under the school record by a tenth with a 3:34.24 combined time.
Evergreen will take part in the Warner Pacific Mini Meet this coming Friday in Portland, OR
