Thinclads Perform Well in Two Weekend Meets

TACOMA, Wash. - Ryan Lara's 4th place overall finish in the 400 meters led the weekend performances for Evergreen State College Track and Field team members. Lara (Fr. Franklin Pierce HS / Tacoma, WA) ran close to his seasons best with a 51.02 performance at University of Puget Sound's Shotwell Invitational.
Lara also competed in the 200 meters, finishing 11th in a season's best and school record time of 23.36. Lindsey Farah (Jr. Yelm HS ) ran 2:26.35 to finish 7th the 800 meters. Liam Rockwell (Fr. Vashon HS ) won his heat and placed 12th overall in the 800 meters with a season's best 2:05.03. Jason Shoemaker competed in the 100 meters and 200 meters, finishing 27th in both events.
At last night's huge Willamette University distance meet in Salem, OR, Evergreen athletes competed in races 1500 meters and above.
Top Evergreen performers include Miguel Pineda (Sr. Tumwater HS) who placed 2nd in his heat with a season's best 4:07.33 in the 1500 meter race. He finished 25th overall of 65 competitors.
Emily Uhlig (Sr. Liberty HS / Renton, WA) finished 16th (12:19.7) in the 3000 meter steeplechase.
Brian Rakestraw (So. Woodinville HS) finished 35th of 71 competitors in the 5000 meters with a time of 15:43.10 and teammate Eric Jones (Jr. Columbia River HS) earned a personal best, finishing close to Rakestraw in 41st place (15:50.92).
Ana Casillas (So, Bellarmine Prep HS) ran in her track 5000 meter debut with a time of 19:28.36.
Former team member, and current assistant coach, Jason McConnell placed 17th overall in the 10,000 meters with a personal best 33:08.
Evergreen Track and Field will compete at the Pacific Lutheran University Invitational next Saturday in Tacoma, WA.
