McMinnville, Ore. - Three school records were broken today at the Icebreaker Invitational hosted by Linfield College. Over a dozen college teams enjoyed excellent early spring weather in the traditional northwest opener.

Starting the day for Evergreen in the men's 3000 meter Steeplechase event, Brian Rakestraw (So, Woodinville HS) broke the four-seasons-ago school record of 10:13 with his 10:09.76 effort. It was Rakestraw's first attempt at the event in which he placed second.

Lindsey Farah (Jr. Yelm HS/Yelm, WA) finished 8th in the 400 meters in 1:03.36, breaking her own college record by nearly two seconds.

Ryan Lara (Fr. Franklin Pierce HS) set his outdoor best in the 400 meters, placing 11th of 32 in a time of :51.90. Lara came back to win his heat of the 200 meters and broke the 22 year old record in that event with a :24.09 performance. Also in the 200 meters, Jason Shoemaker (Sr. South Bend, WA) won his heat in :24.6.

Emily Uhlig (Sr. Liberty HS) and Ana Casillas (So, Bellermine Prep) finished 9th and 12th respectively in the 1500 meters. Uhlig doubled back at the end of the day in the 5000 meters with an 8th place finish in 19:16.9.

Evergreen will next send competitors to the Mt. Hood CC Open meet Saturday in Portland, OR.
