Women finish in 11th place at CWU Spike Arlt Invitational

Ellensburg, Wash. - It was a chilly and blustery day at the Spike Arlt Invitational Saturday where Evergreen sent 7 athletes to compete in sprint and distance events. The women's team placed 11th overall out of 14 teams. The men's team did not post a score in the meet.
All of the women's team points came in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Emily Uhlig, overcoming a nasty fall late in the race, finished second and Kelsey Blair was close behind in 3rd. Breezy conditions slowed all but the two shortest sprint events. Uhlig posted a time of 12:47. Blair ran a season's best time of 12:57.
Kelly Beckham finished 10th in the 1500 meters and Diann Leo placed 15th in the 3000 meters.
For the men's team, Brian Rakestraw had the best placing of the day. He finished 17th in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:20. Jason Shoemaker, the lone sprinter for the Geoducks, post a seasons best in the 100 meters of 12.18.
Evergreen Track has a week off before the compete again at the Western Washington Twighlight meet on Friday, April 27th.
