Evergreen sets more records in dual meet

OLYMPIA , Wash. In an impromptu dual meet with cross town rival Saint Martin 's University, the Geoducks continued their assault on the Evergreen record book despite competing without several athletes who missed the event due to class conflicts.
Senior Rachel Williams added her name to the honor roll with a record-breaking run in the 400 meters. Williams posted a time of 66.2 seconds besting the mark set last season by current teammate Liesl Plomski. Williams turned around and grabbed third place in the 3000 meters with a time of 11:45.00 before finishing her day with a silver medal in the javelin with a school record throw of 59'6.
On the men's side, Miguel Pineda continued a strong freshman season setting a personal mark in the 400 meters. Pineda clocked a 52.1 in his first collegiate race at that distance, taking second place in the event. The time places him 11th in the Cascade Conference for the 400 meters this season.
Pineda and junior Jason McConnell clocked times of 2:27.0 and 2:28.0 respectively in the 800 meters. The event was the first of three for McConnell who also ran a 5:09.0 in the 1500 meters and threw the javelin 71'1.
Geoduck teammate Kyle Merslich won the javelin upping his distance to 156'4. The throw is a season's best for Merslich who also grabbed a gold in the discus with a meet-best hurl of 77'2. Both marks are new school records for Evergreen upping the marks set this season to six.
The Geoducks return to their regularly scheduled season this weekend as they travel to Bellingham , Washington to compete in Western Washington University 's Twilight Meet on Saturday.
