| Contact: Erik Snyder (360) 867-6537 April 22, 2006 EUGENE , Oregon —In windy conditions, Evergreen's Miguel Pineda was thrust to the front of the pack to lead the first lap of the 1500 meters at the Oregon Invitational this weekend. With runners sitting back unwilling to fight the wind, Pineda found himself in the unenviable position of leading the group at the hallowed Hayward Field in Eugene . Times for the races were on the slow side as runners spent the early part of the race jockeying for position. After leading early, Pineda fell back to the middle of the pack where he got boxed in for the final lap. Pineda, fought through the runners to finish strong down the final straightaway. Pineda finished seventh in the third of three heats. He was 32nd overall with a time of 4:13.50 against a field that featured primarily NCAA Division I athletes.
