Geoducks show well at Spring Break Open

Edmonds , Wash. -Evergreen's distance runners had a strong showing at the Spring Break Open this weekend at Edmonds District Stadium as the Geoducks posted six top ten finishes in the meet.

In the men's 3,000 meters, freshman Miguel Pineda and sophomore James Hudson finished less than a half-second apart to claim second and third spots. Pineda crossed the line in second place with a time of 9:22.07, while Hudson was a breath behind at 9:22.45.

Hudson returned with another strong showing in the 5,000 meters grabbing sixth place with a time of 16:29 . Fellow Geoduck, Patrick Murphy finished one spot later at 18:57 .

On the women's side, senior Liesl Plomski finished the 1500 meters just under the six-minute mark with a time of 5:59.6, good enough for sixth place.

Rachel Williams set the only personal best for the Evergreen team on the day with a strong performance in the 5,000 meters. The senior broke the 20-minute barrier with a time of 19:59.4 to take fifth place in the event.

The Geoducks return to action April 7-8 as they travel to Salem , Oregon for the Willamette University Invitational.
