OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Evergreen runner James Hudson ran a personal best 1:13:18 half-marathon at the the Geoduck Gallop this past weekend. The time could be Evergreen's first NAIA National Track and Field qualifier of the 2006 season (NAIA pending). The A-Standard when using a half marathon time to qualify for the Marathon is 1:15:00.0.
Hudson had the company of Kyle Skaggs over the first six miles of the course, but was able to maintain consistent mile splits as he ran the final half of the race alone.
Freshman, Cayenne MacKillop ran her first Half Marathon as an early season training run. Being a tough competitor, she quickly had her game face on and ran 1:36:41.76, just 42 seconds shy of the B-Standard for the Championships. Cayenne has no plans to do a Marathon this year and is focusing on the 10,000 meters.
Jason McConnell also competed in the half marathon for Evergreen. McConnell, who plans to make a serious effort at the distance in March, ran a solid 1:24:38.
