MacKillop comes out strong in season opener

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Evergreen's lone entrant in today's meet at Dempsey Arena, Cayenne MacKillop, finished with a time of 20:33.17 for 5,000 meters.

Her time placed her at 22nd and was a solid performance opener and her first timein a track race since being struck by a car last fall.

The field hadmany top distance runners from NorthwestDII, DIII and NAIAschools and the pace was quick at the gun. Kristi Dickey of Whitworth Collegefinished a straight-a-way ahead of 2nd place to take the win in 17:57.

Evergreen will return to Dempsey Arena on February 12th for the third University of Washington Indoor Open.
