Hudson finishes Ultra race as preparation for the NAIA marathon

CAPITOL FOREST, OLYMPIA, Wash -- James Hudson, a current member of the Evergreen cross country and track teams, and former Evergreen runner Kyle Skaggs took part in the Capitol Peak Mega Fat Ass 17 mile and 34 mile runs respectively.
Hudson, who is in training to qualify for the NAIA Track and Field Championships in the marathon, finished 5th in the 17 miler in a time of 2 hours 26 minutes and 47 seconds.
Kyle Skaggs completed the 34 mile over 10 minutes faster than his 2005 time. He finished in 4:41:24.0. He averaged 8:15 miles on a course that has 5,000 feet of elevation gain.
Evergreen Cross Country Team members volunteered at the event which is a memorial and fund raiser for the family of Scott McQueeney, an ultra runner who passed away after a battle with cancer in 2003.
Fat Ass events, held in the early year throughout the U.S. , are traditional start off events to the Ultra season.
