The Evergreen State College track team participated in their first meet of the spring at the University of Washington Outdoor Preview.
The Evergreen runners are coming off a strong cross country that showed marked improvement in the team's performances and a berth in the National Championships for junior Josh Klimek.
The Geoducks are looking to continue the improvement they saw in the fall.
Freshman James Hudson pulled in a noteable result in the soggy men's 5,000 meters. His 16:39.28 (26th place) was the second fastest 5k time on record for Evergreen not counting Klimek's times under that mark.
Earlier in the day Hudson placed 27th (4:29.66) in the 1,500 meters in his first college race.
Rachel Williams set a personal best in the 3,000 meters of 12:16.52 in her first collegiate track and field race as well.
"We entered mostly freshmen or first-time track people this weekend," said head coach Craig Dickson. "We had modest results competitively but good results for them."
